Hi, I’m Matt, long-time digital product person generally involved in public sector stuff in the UK. It’s good to meet you.

This blog is my belated new year’s resolution to write some blog posts and publish them for the first time in a decade. Please let me know how I get on.

Needless to say, this is a personal blog. All opinions and thoughts aired here are mine and not those of anyone who employs me.

I’ve gone all old school and created my own blog because I’m not a massive fan of where Medium and other platforms are headed. Please post a comment and join in with the debate to convince me that Eternal September is real, or at least to remind me of the time when “20 years ago, the internet felt hopeful” (Martha Lane Fox earlier this year, quoted on Twitter by @blangry who has protected his tweets so that I can’t link to them anymore).

You can find me on Twitter:

If you don’t believe that my musical taste lives somewhere between random and strange then this is my playlist of what I liked most in 2017. It’s designed for listening to in order, like the cassette tape nostalgic that I am. Warning: includes accordions, jazz, and bad language. (Update: 2018 list is here.)

(If you’re wondering about the last two tracks then I often send friends a mix at the end of the year, so I have a tradition of finishing end-of-year mixes with something Christmassy. YMMV.)
